The Problem We Saw

Traditional therapy is powerful. But it has structural limitations that leave millions of people without support:

We made a deliberate choice not to call Lumis an AI therapist. Not because the techniques aren't therapeutic — they are (CBT, DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, all evidence-based). But because:

1. Framing matters. "Therapy" activates stigma for 60% of our potential users. "Personal growth" activates aspiration. Same destination, different door.

2. Honesty matters. Lumis is an AI. It can't replace the human connection of a therapist. But it can offer things a therapist can't: infinite patience, perfect memory, 24/7 availability, and zero judgment.

3. Access matters. By positioning as a growth companion, we reach people who would never download a "therapy app" — but who desperately need support.

What Makes Lumis Different

The AI mental health space is growing. What makes us different is one word: memory.

This means Lumis gets better the longer you use it. Session 50 is fundamentally more valuable than session 1 — because by then, Lumis understands you.
